Basketball season was officially over. As much as I loved hooping, I was happy as hell to get a break. Basketball took up most of my time, I wasn’t complaining but I missed doing regular shit. I still planned on working with Coach twice a week to stay in shape and work on my game. If I wanted to be the best and make it to the NBA the grind didn’t stop because the season was over.

Denise was in a pissy mood because her birthday was yesterday. We couldn’t spend it the way she wanted too but I made sure to drop a couple bands on her and send flowers to her crib. She had plans to hang out with her homegirls anyway so I didn’t think it was a big deal until she started acting all short on the phone and shit and I already knew what time it was. She obviously needed some attention so I decided to swing by her crib to give her some.

“Coop what are you doing here?” Denise asked, opening the door surprised.

“What you mean, I came to see you.”

“You really should’ve called first,” her awkward expression, caused my left eyebrow to furrow. Denise was fidgeting and obviously nervous, but what for?

Pushing the door open, it was another nigga standing in the middle of her living room floor. Considering the issues surrounding us being together, Denise and I weren’t exclusive but we had an agreement. I knew nothing about this nigga which meant she wasn’t upholding her end of the deal.

“Who the fuck is this?” I asked.

“Coop, call down.”

“This is the reason you haven’t been answering my calls?” He asked and I wasn’t feeling the derogatory way he referred to me as this.

“This will whoop your fuckin ass you better watch your mouth!” I warned purposely, pointing my finger in his face. I treated disrespect with disrespect and I wanted him to feel mine.

“Coop stop it!”

“Aye, you need to tell your guest to go.”

“Luca, you need to go.” She instructed her guest.

“Why because he said so?”

“Goddamn right and unless you want me to kick your ass out I suggest you put them legs to use.”

“Are you really taking orders from him?”

“Aye Keith Sweat, take all that begging out the door.” I added taking a seat on her counter.

“Luca please.” She begged.

“Fine Denise, have it your way but don’t come crawling back when it’s his bedtime.” He knew what was best for him as he walked out the door.

“What are you doing here?”

“What the fuck is he doing here?”

“Just like you, he popped up. You can’t be here Coop, what if somebody saw you?”

“I don’t give a fuck.”

“That’s the problem! You don’t give a fuck but it’s my ass that’s on the line here.”

“Who is that and why haven’t I heard about him?”

“Because he doesn’t matter.”

“You let him in so he means something.”

“We’re not exclusive Coop, you know that.”

“We have an understanding and you got me standing here looking stupid.”

“You know what, this isn’t working anymore.
